The Sri Sathya Sai Space Theatre was inaugurated in 1985 by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Located in the Vidyagiri Educational Institution campus at Prasanthi Nilayam, Puttaparthi, this Planetarium is the only one between Bangalore and Hyderabad in this part of India. In keeping with the Founder's vision of providing education free of cost, no admission fees are charged for shows at the Planetarium. Since the Planetarium is located in a rural area, special emphasis is placed on creating shows in the local language Telugu. Since we are at a pilgrim centre which attracts visitors from all over India and the world, we also have shows in Hindi and English.
Visitors are welcome to regular daily shows, including Sundays. Educational institutions and other groups can arrange for special shows by contacting us. You can also write a review for Sri Sathya Sai Space Theatre on TripAdvisor.
Please note that there will be no regular planetarium shows on 11 January, 24 April and 23 November. Current schedule: Shows begin when the number of visitors crosses 120, which may happen around 9.30 or 9.45 am. Entry is upto 10.30 am only. All those who come before 10.30 can see the show, but may have to wait for those who have come before them to finish. You can budget an hour or 90 minutes for your visit, including waiting, entry time, exit time, viewing the exhibits, and so on. Duration of the show is approximately half an hour.
